Moving back home gave me a sense of identity that had been veiled. It’s good to go back to your roots sometimes and remember who you are. I took this picture in Nova Scotia at the top of a trail that took hours to hike and began on the wee beach on the right. I traveled alone from Central Alabama, and it was exhilarating. The time had come for me to learn some things about the world and maybe about myself.
I am:
- The mother of 3 sons: one in the Army, one in the Air Force, and one who had a short stint in the Navy, who all love their country, love their mama, and are rotten to the core (in the (mostly) good way)
- The griever of a son who committed suicide – a Lance Corporal in the US Marines
- The daughter of a retired Air Force general who took me in after my divorce and passed away at the age of 93. I had the amazing good fortune to live with him for 7 years
- Fourth among four in a tight-knit but independent group of siblings
- An adventurer, camping and hiking across the US, visiting all the National Parks I can!
- A tennis player, a traveler, a student
- A lover of people, of life, and of all the blessings and disasters that are inherent therein
Come join the adventuring!
